Case Study 001: WordPress to Webflow Blog is Now Live!

Heya guys! In my previous post, I shared that I would begin a case study about WordPress to Webflow. At long last, the much-awaited website case study is now live! You can view the URL here:

Why did I switch?

My reason for switching from WordPress to Webflow is personal.

  • I simply fell in love with Webflow! The learning curve at the start is pretty steep, but the support and articles on how to do things are very helpful.
  • Also, when I googled for terms like ‘Display ads using Webflow’, I didn’t find any helpful information about how. There are few generic articles, but there aren’t any articles that answered my inquiry.
  • Also, it seems like the vast majority of Webflow users focused on creating visually stunning websites.

So, I decided that I’m going to build a blog using this platform and turn it into a high-traffic website that will generate revenue via display ads as well as affiliate marketing.

Considerations

Growing Traffic

By the way, before I transfer the platform, the website already has some traffic, but not much.

  • 30 published posts and SEO-optimized using RankIQ (this tool is effective, really!)
  • less than monthly 300 page views.

I had to contemplate first if I should switch or grow the blog using its current platform, which is WordPress. But for the sake of this case study, I made the decision to jump right away!

September 1 – 25, 2024 traffic

Last 7 days (September 19-25, 2024)

Stats on Google Search Console – it is now getting recognized by Google.

I also researched and discovered that the traffic may get affected and may drop if I switch themes or redesign the website. However, I also think it is the best time while the traffic is still low, so later on, I can focus on publishing more articles that provide value, and later on, Google will mark this website as helpful and generate traffic once again.

Price

I would be lying if I didn’t say the price is also one of the considerations or my hesitations. My current hosting is in Namecheap shared hosting, and for less than 70 USD per year, I can boot unlimited websites.

For Webflow, I purchased a freelancer workspace that cost 192 USD for 1 year. I also plan to build client websites using Webflow. And in order to launch the case study, I had to invest 276 USD for 1 year, which is more expensive.

💡You can publish a live site using a Starter Workspace plan which is FREE in Webflow

But then, I also reflected my level of commitment for this project. Is it just:

  • A hobby?
  • Or a full-time digital marketing business?

Of course I chose the latter!

I also checked other providers like Wix, Shopify, and SquareSpace. Their annual pricing plans are pretty much the same.

So, I went ahead and published it live! Crossed fingers, closed eyes, but I went ahead and did it without any guarantee of succeeding.

Goals 🎯

Sharing with you the targets of this case study:

  • Publish a minimum of 1 SEO-optimized article per day. A more specific goal is to publish 250-300 articles minimum.
  • Increase traffic and domain authority.
  • Get accepted into display ad companies like Monumetric, Mediavine, AdThrive, or Raptive.
  • Plus, another big project (too early to disclose details now, but once I prove that this is working, then I will also share with you! 😄)
